Counseling for Athletes
Support for Athletes
Working with athletes is a passion of mine, as I have a first hand appreciation of the pressures and anxieties that go into high school and collegiate level athletics.
From the volume of training to the balance of school and family or social life, I know how important and beneficial it can be to have a consistent and safe space to process the pressures and gain intentionality with your sports/life balance. As a former collegiate soccer player and having coached state title winners, I walk the journey of athletic achievement and life balance with my clients side by side.
The high stress but rewarding world of athletic achievement can come with a lot of “gut through it” moments and can lead to individuals appearing to others as high-functioning, high-achievers, who “have it all together.” However, too much self-control, striving, inhibition, and perfectionism can result in quiet suffering and self doubt for even the most accomplished of athletes.
Not going through this process alone can be incredibly beneficial to both the mental well being of the athlete, but also to his or her performance on the field. Clients looking to include athletics and the sports world as part of their therapeutic journey can look to see:
Reduced performance anxiety
Increased motivation
Improved concentration
Increase in ability to effectively set both short-term and long-term goals
Increased self-confidence
I work with individuals involved in a wide range of athletic interests including tennis, golf, swimming, volleyball, baseball, football, basketball, and soccer. Reach out if athletics are a part of your therapeutic journey and we can start you on your new path!
